Intended Learning Outcomes of Course (ILOs)
a- Knowledge and Understanding:
After successful completion of the course the students should be able to:
a.1 Recognize the basic knowledge about surgical anatomy.
a.2 Understand the basis of the pathogenesis of different surgical affections of the body and its consequences, termination and sequale.
a.3 Familiarize the basis of the surgical techniques of the digestive, respiratory, urinary, male and female genital systems with special reference to the different types surgical techniques
a.4 Identify the basis of ophthalmology and the surgical affections of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea and retina.
a.5 Describe the surgical corrections of the different surgical affections of the body systems.
b- Intellectual Skills:
After successful completion of the course the students should be able to:
b.1 Determine how to differentiate between different types of surgical affections.
b.2 Decide how to perform accurate diagnosis.
b.3 Interpret the different types of surgical affections through collecting the clinical signs, diagnostic tools and the diagnostic imaging patterns.
b.4 Judge the more suitable time for interference in the different surgical conditions.
b.5 Determine the appropriate surgical technique.
c- Professional and Practical Skills:
After successful completion of the course the students should be able to:
c.1 Performing the accurate antiseptic procedures before surgery.
c.2 Using the appropriate surgical instruments.
c.3 Performing the basic steps of correct diagnosis
c.4 Practice the special diagnostic procedures.
c.5 Performing simple surgical interferences with special reference to special surgical techniques.
c.6 Manage the surgical cases after operation.
d- General and Transferable Skills:
After successful completion of the course the students should be able to:
d.1 Solve problems associated with pet animal diseases.
d.2 Communicate with other colleagues for reaching diagnosis.
d.3 Cooperate with other veterinary hospitals, clinics and units in the field of pet animal practice.
